The new CM of Maharashtra will be known tomorrow when the Mahayuti government’s swearing-in will take place the next day. In a crucial legislative party election, the BJP in Mumbai will choose their leader from amongst themselves. Attended by central observers Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, among others, this could not be any less important.
The observers will oversee the meeting and report the elected candidate’s name to senior party leaders in Delhi. The new CM of the state will be declared once they get confirmed. As per a BJP functionary, the swearing-in ceremony is set to take place on December 5 at Azad Maidan in Mumbai. Furthermore, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other prominent leaders are likely to attend.
According to the PTI, the BJP official said,
“Rupani and Sitharaman would meet the BJP’s elected representatives in Mumbai on Wednesday. Following this meeting, the chosen candidate’s name will be relayed to senior leaders in Delhi. These observers will then announce the elected leader of the BJP, who is set to be the next chief minister,”
It is pertinent to mention that the BJP has not made an official announcement yet. However, it is reported that Devendra Fadnavis is a frontrunner for the Chief Minister designation. The Mahayuti alliance, which comprises the BJP, Shiv Sena, and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), will also be sharing deputy CM positions with the two key allies. Caretaker Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has revealed that he totally agrees with the BJP taking the chief ministership.
New CM of Maharashtra: Who is Winning?
Mahayuti Alliance swept the most recent Maharashtra assembly polls by winning an impressive majority of 230 out of the 288. The BJP had the largest representation with 132 seats and Shiv Sena 57 and the NCP garnered 41.
The next CM in Maharashtra will indeed be granted a robust mandate and major coalition partnership; the agenda here would be based on development, stability, and the unity of the state.
