Sukhu ka samosa is more important issue than unemployment, financial crisis in India – BJP criticizes Congress’ priorities

Sukhu ka samosa is more important issue than unemployment, financial crisis in India - BJP criticizes Congress' priorities

Tainted controversy, the poor samosa stole the headlines in Himachal Pradesh this week as the BJP attacked the Congress-led government with its priorities. The ‘Sukhu ka samosa’ scandal began when snacks meant for Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu were served to the staffers during an event. The mix-up led to an internal CID probe that the opposition strongly condemned.

On Saturday, BJYM workers carried out a unique ‘samosa march’ through Shimla. BJP MLA Ashish Sharma took to Facebook, calling the inquiry a waste of resources. “The state is grappling with unemployment, a financial crisis, and delayed pensions. Yet, the government orders a CID probe over Sukhu ka samosa,” he wrote, sending 11 samosas to the CM as a symbolic reminder to focus on real issues.

Sukhu ka Samosa was not meant for employees, BJP calls it a shame for the nation

This is an internal CID matter. It’s being unnecessarily politicized. The CM doesn’t even eat samosas,” said Chief Minister Sukhu. While the Congress was busy defending its man, Sudhir Sharma, another BJP leader, echoed similar sentiments. According to him, the Congress government is making Himachal a “joke for the nation”.

Chef says this is the first time his dish got more than usual attention

The controversy notwithstanding, Sukhu ka samosa has surprisingly given local tourism a much-needed boost. The very popular samosas, prepared by Rajiv Bhardwaj, assistant chef, at Radisson Hotel, are now a must-have to sample. “I have never seen this degree of attention over my dishes, not even when I broke a Guinness record over khichdi in 2019,” said Bhardwaj.

What began as a small glitch in ordering a snack has now turned into an all-out political battle, but Sukhu ka samosa has gained many twists on the streets.
