A video shared on February 4 showed a couple that decided to skip the traditional, expensive wedding. Instead, they took the large sum of money they saved and used it as a down payment for their first home. To add a special touch to their choice, they didn’t just buy the house; they turned it into their wedding venue.
They skipped expensive wedding celebrations and instead used the saved money to buy a house. The couple then performed the wedding pheras (traditional Hindu wedding rituals) inside the new home, choosing long-term security over a lavish wedding.
Social media applauds ‘intelligent couple’
The wedding video sparked a discussion online, with most people praising the Indian Couple for their smart choice. “Perfect example for future,” one Instagram user commented. Another said, “Intelligent couple.” Someone else remarked, “Wonderful start of life… great way to save and invest wisely.” Another person added, “Excellent. Kudos to the couple and the families.” One user expressed, “I wish more families thought like this.”
However, some traditional views emerged as well. Some argued that a wedding was a “once-in-a-lifetime” event that deserved a grand celebration. Nevertheless, the majority of responses favored the couple’s practical approach.
