The police opened a case under section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for abetting suicide. The State Human Rights Commission instructed the Deputy Inspector General of North Kerala to investigate and submit a report within a week.

According to The News Minute, the video showed the man’s elbow hitting the woman’s chest, which she claimed was intentional. The video went viral, resulting in substantial social media reactions and cyber harassment directed at the woman.

How social media users react?

Some online users argued that the contact was accidental, and others questioned the woman’s reasons for posting the video. The article states, “Judging the truth of a video to assign legal responsibility is not something social media users can do.”

Further details reveal that the Influencer woman edited two separate recordings into one video. She told reporters that she began recording after noticing the man standing close to her and another woman. The man’s friends and family said the viral video had a profound impact on him, which ultimately led to his suicide.

“While we need to control the noise from social media, it is also important to consider why many women often turn to social media to share videos of public harassment and sexual abuse,” the article remarked.
