The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has ordered the arrest of 35 people, including 19 Indians, for posting misleading or fake videos on social media during the Middle East war that began last month after US-Israeli forces launched airstrikes on Iran.
The authorities said that the suspects will face a quick trial after an investigation showed they used digital platforms to share manipulated footage and stories related to ongoing regional tensions.
UAE strict action against 19 Indians
This action came in two parts. The latest list includes 25 individuals of different nationalities, among them 17 Indians, who face charges under various sections. This is separate from the ten people, including two Indians, who named and ordered to be arrested.

In a statement, the UAE attorney general, Dr. Hamad Saif Al Shams, explained that this move follows careful monitoring of digital platforms to fight the spread of fake information and artificial content aimed at inciting public unrest and weakening stability.
“Investigations and electronic monitoring revealed that the defendants divided into three groups that committed different acts. These included sharing real clips about current events, creating clips using AI, and promoting a state that engages in military aggression while praising its leadership and military actions,” the statement read, according to the UAE’s official news agency, Wam.
