Google’s YouTube has agreed to pay USD 24.5 million to settle a lawsuit by US President Trump regarding his account suspension in 2021, following the January 6 attack on the US Capitol. Google confirmed the settlement but did not provide further comments. The filing states that the settlement does not mean they admit any wrongdoing.

Documents filed in a federal court in California reveal that $ 22 million of the settlement will go to the Trust for the National Mall. The remainder distributed to other plaintiffs, including the American Conservative Union. The announcement of the settlement came just one week before a scheduled court hearing on October 6 with US District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez-Rogers in Oakland, California.
Google is the latest major tech company to resolve lawsuits brought by Trump. In January, Meta Platforms agreed to pay $ 25 million to settle a lawsuit regarding his 2021 suspension from Facebook. Additionally, Elon Musk’s X settled a similar lawsuit, when it was known as Twitter, for USD 10 million.
