The Paris Olympics is facing a lot of controversy because male boxer fights with female boxer in Paris olympics. There is a match lined up tomorrow in which a male boxer will fight against a female boxer again. The male boxer who is Imane Khelif from Algeria will fight against Luca Enea from Hungary.
There was a global protest after an incident involving an Italian female boxer yesterday. Despite this the International Olympic Association has not changed its decision. A boxer whose gender identity was questioned recently won her first fight at the Paris Olympics on Thursday.
The Controversial Match
Imane Khelif of Algeria defeated Angela Carini of Italy. Carini quit 46 seconds into the match as she stopped after only a few punches and also avoided shaking Khelif’s hand and then fell to the floor in tears. Khelif’s participation in women’s boxing at the Olympics has been facing a lot of criticism. Reports surfaced that she and another boxer Lin Yu-ting of Taiwan failed gender eligibility tests at the Women’s World Boxing Championships last year. Officials alleged that the boxers failed the test because they had male chromosomes.

Khelif who is 25 years old has always competed as a woman and this includes the Tokyo Olympics. There is no indication that she identifies as transgender or intersex. Carini said she ended the fight due to severe pain in her nose and she added that she is not qualified to decide if Khelif should compete.
Reactions to the Incident
“We have to pay attention. In an attempt to not discriminate, we’re actually discriminating against women,” said Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. Several American politicians also shared their views on the match. “I WILL KEEP MEN OUT OF WOMEN’S SPORTS!” former President Donald Trump wrote.
Despite most responses online being critical Carini has some support. J.K. Rowling referred to Khelif as “male” and called the match a “brutal injustice.” Elon Musk also replied to a post that included a video of the fight.

Immediate Reactions
Carini was distraught after the match as she disclosed that she feared for her life. She crumpled to the canvas with tears streaming down her face. A United Nations expert condemned the Olympic rules that enabled the bout. Reem Alsalem the UN’s special rapporteur on violence against women and girls said female athletes should not have been exposed to this physical and psychological violence based on their sex.
Khelif’s Next Match
Khelif was unrepentant about her victory as she declared she is here for gold and will fight anyone even people criticize her by saying that male boxer fights with female boxer in Paris olympics. Her next opponent in the women’s welterweight division is Hungary’s Anna Luca Hamori. Hamori is undeterred and says she is not scared. She said it would be a bigger victory for her if she wins against a man.
