Rohit Sharma opens up on India’s squad for Champions Trophy 2025 team after Saturday’s announcement of a 15-member team. He says that the team shows the depth and versatility of the Indian side. Indian skipper Rohit at a joint press conference with chief selector Ajit Agarkar feels the strength is well represented, especially in the all-rounders- Washington Sundar, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel- picked for the tournament.
These three are proper all-rounders,” Rohit said. “They are not just playing the role of a bowler or a batter. They have consistently delivered in crucial situations, and their inclusion gives the team a strong balance. Their ability to contribute in multiple areas is something that brings a lot of confidence to me and the team.“
Rohit Sharma on India’s Champions Trophy 2025 squad further praised the trio’s versatility, pointing out that their spin options—off-spin, left-arm spin, and Kuldeep Yadav’s chinaman—help cover all bases. “Having these options is crucial, especially in a tournament like the Champions Trophy. It ensures we’re prepared for any condition or opposition,” he added.
It would be so exciting to see this much-awaited ICC Champions Trophy 2025 from February 19 to March 9. The games will be played in Pakistan and in the UAE. With the hybrid hosting model, India will play all their games in Dubai. Rohit Sharma’s team will kickstart their campaign on February 20 against Bangladesh and then will look forward to the marquee match against Pakistan on February 23.
The tournament will involve eight teams in 15 matches. India play New Zealand in their final group match on March 2. Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and KL Rahul are the stalwarts of the team, with new talent Yashasvi Jaiswal being added.
