Google Gemini AI -powered Nano Banana 3D figurine trend takes over social media especially Instagram. But the experts are warning about the risks of uploading personal images to AI platforms. While the quirky figurines and retro-style portraits have captured the attention of millions, they also raise serious concerns about digital privacy, especially regarding facial images.
This trend highlights how easily personal data can be shared online in the search for viral content, often without users fully grasping the potential consequences.
User found the Gemini AI Saree Trend Creepy and Scary
An Instagram user named @jhalakbhawani shared a disturbing experience while trying out the AI saree portrait trend on Gemini. She wrote, “A trend is going viral on Instagram where you upload your image to Gemini with a single prompt, and Gemini turns it into a saree. Last night, I tried this trend myself and found something very unsettling.”
Sharing her uploaded image, in which she wore a green full-sleeve suit, she said, “I noticed something strange; there is a mole on my left hand in the generated image, which I actually have in real life. The original image I uploaded did not have a mole. How did Gemini know? You can see the mole; it’s very scary and creepy. Please be careful.”
DeepStrat CEO Raise security concerns
Cybersecurity expert Saikat Datta, CEO of DeepStrat, explained, “When you upload a face image on Gemini AI, you have to consider issues of ID management. The platform may store it for processing, improving models, or analytics. Even if anonymized, there’s a risk your data could be used in ways you didn’t want. If the system or any linked services get hacked, your images could be leaked online.”
