The Samikshya portal allows citizens, elected representatives, and government officials to track the physical and financial progress of development projects funded by SFC and CFC grants.
These projects include roads, drinking water supply, sanitation, street lighting, parks, and other essential public utilities. By providing real-time data, the portal aims to reduce delays, limit cost overruns, and enhance the quality of infrastructure delivery.
Improving transparency and citizen participation
By making project information accessible to the public, the Samikshya Portal seeks to strengthen citizen oversight and participatory governance. Residents can monitor ongoing work in their areas and see if projects are moving forward as planned.
Officials say this approach is expected to build public trust, improve coordination between departments, and ensure that development funds achieve their intended outcomes without administrative delays.
This initiative follows the recommendations of the 6th State Finance Commission, chaired by Arun Kumar Panda. The commission has stressed the need for predictable and formula-based distribution of funds to local bodies, with a focus on equity, regional imbalances, and the unique needs of rural and urban institutions.
