In a security breach, three car travelers entered the high-security zone of the Kerala Government Secretariat on Friday evening. It is because of navigational issues occurs by Google maps that travellers used to find way. They later claimed that Google Maps had misdirected them.
Security Breach at Kerala Secretariat, Blames Google Maps
Security personnel stationed at the Cantonment Gate, the fourth gate of the Secretariat complex, stopped the vehicle at around 7:45 PM as it approached the restricted area. The occupants were immediately detained for questioning due to the sensitive nature of the location.
According to police sources, the travelers, who are believed to be from Kochi, told officers that they were following directions from Google Maps while trying to reach a hotel in the city. However, the navigation system allegedly directed them toward the Secretariat area, which led them into the high-security government complex.
Is Google Maps responsible for navigation issue?
During questioning, the trio said they were actually heading to Kazhakkoottam when the navigation issue occurred. Police officials also suspected that the occupants might have consumed alcohol at the time of the incident.
Given the strict security rules at the Kerala Government Secretariat, authorities handled the situation carefully. The three men were questioned, and their identities and travel details were verified before considering further action.
