Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shahofficially launch Bharat Taxi, India’s first cooperative-based ride-hailing platform, on February 5, 2026, at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi. This platform aims to compete with private services like Ola, Uber, and Rapido.
It adopts a driver-ownership model, where each driver holds five shares, and no commission is taken from each ride. The launch will feature an awareness rally for drivers, known as “Sarathis,” with about 250,000 vehicles expected to register initially.
Amit Shah launch Bharat Taxi app
Bharat Taxi operates on a cooperative model, allowing drivers to be owners instead of commission-based partners. Each driver will hold five shares in the cooperative, and there will be no commissions deducted from rides. Instead, drivers will pay a flat fee ofRs 30 each day to use the app.
Fares Up to 30% Cheaper Than Ola and Uber
Officials say Bharat Taxi could cost up to 30% less than current ride-hailing services. Private platforms usually take Rs 30-50 as commission per ride; Bharat Taxi eliminates this, enabling lower fares for passengers. About 250,000 vehicles are expected to join the platform in the Delhi-NCR area.
The app has built-in safety features and a dedicated helpline. In addition, 35 special booths have been established in collaboration with the Delhi Police to handle passenger complaints quickly. Drivers on the platform, called “Sarathis,” have verified records.
