In a tragic incident on Monday, the body of 25-year-old Air India pilot Srishti Tuli was found dead in her rented flat at Andheri, in Mumbai. Police said she had died by suicide and arrested her boyfriend, Aditya Pandit, for abetment.
Tuli was discovered hanging from a data cable in her apartment at Kanakia Rainforest. Police said there was no suicide note left behind. Investigators claim she committed suicide after phoning Mr. Pandit, during which she threatened to harm herself.
Mr. Pandit, 27, was on his way to Delhi when he received Tuli’s call. He immediately returned to Mumbai but arrived to find the flat locked from inside. Using a locksmith to gain entry, he discovered her hanging. Tuli was rushed to Seven Hills Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Tuli’s uncle has accused Mr. Pandit of mental harassment and public humiliation, which he claims led to her drastic step. He also alleged that Mr. Pandit pressured her to give up non-vegetarian food, creating additional strain in their relationship. Based on the complaint, police arrested Mr. Pandit on Tuesday under Section 108 (abetment of suicide) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Tuli is from Uttar Pradesh. She had moved to Mumbai in June 2022. She and Mr. Pandit had met two years ago when they were training for their commercial pilot licenses in Delhi. Their relationship was said to have turned sour over time and had often resulted in quarrels.

The police have continued investigations regarding the circumstances in which Tuli died. Mr. Pandit has been placed under arrest and will continue to stay there until 29th November.
