Indigo Airline Allows Women To Avoid Sitting Next To Men In Flight

Indigo airline which is known as the largest airline of India has introduced an initiative which has been supported and liked by many of the women of the country. Indigo airline allows women to avoid sitting next to men in their flight. This option is available for women while booking their seats online on the Indigo website. The women can see the pink seat option which tells them it is for women and if they choose that option so women will sit next to them instead of men therefore Indigo airline allows women to avoid sitting next to men in flight.

The Indian largest airline Indigo was testing this option since May and wanted to implement it as soon as possible because of the growing concerns of unusual activities between two different genders in the country. Therefore this decision was appreciated by the women of India who thanked the airline officials for supporting their privacy.

Is This Option Available For Man?

Unfortunately this option is not available for men as the airline officials clearly told that men will not see the pink seats like women do when they are booking their seats. Therefore man has to randomly pick a seat and will only get to know about his traveling partner when he boards onto the plane.

The question is how will the website know whether the person is male or a female while booking their seats. Therefore for this the website conforms the person’s gender at the start of the booking process and confirms it as well therefore there is no chance for any misconduct. However, this brilliant feature of Indigo airlines allows women to avoid sitting next to men is taken as a discrimination by most of the men as they think that they are not respected by the Indigo airline organization like women are respected.

Why Is This Initiative Taken?

This initiative by Indigo Airlines is primarily driven by the growing safety concerns and discomfort faced by women due to increasing cases of gender-based violence and harassment in India. The country has witnessed a rise in rape cases leading to female protest. One such tragic case was the Kolkata rape incident where a doctor was brutally raped and murdered. Additionally in the 2023 incident a drunk male passenger urinated on a female traveler during an Air India flight.

These events have heightened the need for measures that ensure women feel secure and comfortable during their travel. Indigo Airline Allows Women To Avoid Sitting Next To Men is aimed at addressing these concerns while enhancing the overall comfort and peace of mind for female passengers.
