Cyclone Fengal News reports significant disruptions in Karnataka and Kerala, with heavy rains and thunderstorms impacting normal life. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for a fresh Western Disturbance that will bring rain and snowfall in the Western Himalayan region and Northwest India starting December 7.
On Wednesday, Kerala experienced thunderstorms and squally weather across the southeast Arabian Sea with a wind speed of 55 km/h. According to Cyclone Fengal Latest News, the Sabarimala pilgrimage areas of Sannidhanam, Pamba, and Nilackal were put under weather alerts. Areas along the coast experienced heavy downpours that saw districts like Thrissur and Kasaragod having up to 20 cm of rainfall.
Karnataka has also not been spared by the cyclone’s impact. Flash floods were reported in some coastal areas, though major damage was avoided in districts like Dakshina Kannada and Udupi. In several places, homes were flooded, and compound walls collapsed due to the torrential rain. Cyclone Fengal Updates points out that the IMD is tracking a well-marked low-pressure area over the east-central Arabian Sea, which continues to influence weather patterns in the region.
Cyclone Fengal News: What’s Next?
The cyclonic circulation is expected to move west-northwestwards over the Arabian Sea in the coming days. The IMD has also observed unusually high minimum temperatures, with parts of Karnataka seeing a 5°C increase above normal and Kerala experiencing 1°C to 3°C rises.
Despite heavy rain early this week, Kerala and coastal Karnataka districts may see the intensity of rainfall reduce. Yet, Cyclone Fengal Updates says the people should continue cautionary measures as isolated light to moderate rainfall may continue. Bengaluru may continue having partly cloudy skies and skits of light rain spells.
With the close watch of the IMD, Cyclone Fengal News will update important information for people to move on in such deep weather challenges.
