According to the White House, deportation flights for undocumented immigrants have started to operate on Friday. With press secretary Karoline Leavitt behind the podium, sharing images of migrants getting on a military plane, the White House press office highlighted that the administration of President Donald Trump is giving strong rebuttals to illegal immigration.

Now, the officials clarify that if you illegally cross into the United States of America, you will be heavily and seriously punished. With the national crackdown at its center, what is unique from the previous administration in regards to illegal migration, is the employment of focus.

Crackdown on illegal immigration gains momentum

The government announced the arrests of 538 suspects, one of them a suspected terrorist and some undocumented migrants found guilty of sex crimes against minors. Those arrested included four members of the feared Tren de Aragua gang, which highlighted the scope and violence of the operation.

Leavitt characterized the effort as “the biggest mass expulsion in the history,” claiming that the government is acting as a way to fulfill campaign promises. She further declared, “Promises made. Promises kept.”

Deportation flights for undocumented immigrants begin as promised

The reopened crackdown is the result of a promise made by the previous president including the reform of the immigration system in the United States. With his return to office, he declared a “national emergency” at the southern border and deployed more troops in order to secure the zone. These are taken together with plans to bring charges against local law enforcement personnel who do not respond to federal immigration law.

Estimates range from 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the United States by the Office of Homeland Security Statistics. This current work aims to reduce unauthorized incidences of entry and the crimes associated with unauthorized persons.

With immigration deportation flights and arrests mounting, Trump’s administration is seeking to reassert its commitment to “zero tolerance” to illegal immigration, a watershed moment in US immigration policy.
