Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin condemns acts of Israel in Gaza and Lebanon

During the summit, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman slammed prevailing acts of Israel in Gaza and Lebanon, which he called on to put an end to right away. He lashed out at the massacres he termed as such by Israel against Palestinians and Lebanese, emphasizing that humanitarian aid should have access to the Gaza Strip. MBS warned against further measures to further demolish the role of the Palestinian Authority, reminding that Saudi Arabia is sternly ranked on the Palestinian matter.

Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit echoed the words of MBS, showing deep concern about what is happening to the Palestinians. “Peace is only possible with justice,” he said; he pointed out that actions taken by Israel are eroding the chances for peace and noted a shared regional frustration with Israeli policies and actions.

MBS also urged the international community to make Israel stop its aggression. He claimed that the Gaza blockade has worsened the humanitarian crisis, and life-saving assistance, such as that brought in by UNRWA, is being held back. The Saudi criticism reflects the commitment of the kingdom to be supportive of the Palestinian cause as a whole with the Arabs and Muslims.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman proposes two-state solution to stop genocide in Palestine

The Crown Prince reiterated Saudi Arabia’s commitment to a two-state solution. He urged the international community to recognize Palestine and the preferred capital be in East Jerusalem. He also spoke about Israeli military attacks on Iran’s interests and urged against any more actions that would destabilize the region. It is intriguing how the Saudi-Iran relations have now morphed to include two nations speaking about their common interest: opposing Israel.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who attended the summit, accused Israel of shooting at women and children in Gaza. He led the support for South Africa’s call that the issue be brought to the International Court of Justice (ICJ), saying, “International law demands action against acts of genocide in Palestine.” His statement added more strength to the coordinated call that was coming from the summit.

Egyptian, Jordanian, Qatari, and Iranian leaders joined the chorus appealing for recognition of statehood for the Palestinians. MBS hailed diplomatic victories: Nine more countries have recognised State of Palestine since the latest round of conflict started, he said. “This will be a step toward full membership in the United Nations,” which Palestinians term “a day of unity among Arab and Islamic nations.”
