An eyewitness picture from Google Street View of a man putting a big white plastic sack into the boot of his car has proved decisive in the unraveling of a murder case in Tajueco, a small village in northern Spain. Police announced that the photograph did indeed document a critical moment in an alleged body disposal.
The Google Street View application delivers panoramic photographs of streets all over the globe, captured by cars fitted with cameras. The camera’s instance visit to the Tajueco after a 15-year accident revealed views related to the crime. One series depicts a foggy figure spinning a white bundle in a wheelbarrow.
Authorities arrested two individuals last month—a woman reported to be the victim’s partner and a man identified as her ex-partner. Both suspects are charged with involvement in the abduction and killing of a 33-year-old Cuban male in October 2023.

The victim’s dismembered body parts were recovered in the first half of the month from a cemetery in the vicinity of the town. The torso, in the state of advanced decomposition, is thought to be that of the missing man.
The case was started in October 2023 when a family member of the victim received a mysterious message on his phone, saying that the victim met a woman, was leaving Spain, and was going to dispose of the phone. Relative stated the disappearance to the police, which sparked concerns of illegal action.
Despite the Google Street View images sparking attention, police clarified that they were not decisive evidence but rather one of several pieces contributing to the investigation. Both suspects are still in police custody as investigators work to determine exactly what happened.
This peculiar application of the technology used for crime detection has generated considerable attention, especially since the images matched the schedule for the alleged crime.
