World's largest crocodile in captivity dies at 110

The world’s largest crocodile was being kept on display in Australia for years in a wildlife sanctuary and lost his life on Saturday. What was so wonderful about it? It seemed like approaching eighteen feet; he weighed over one ton. On speculation, there used to be claims stating about how he looked at least well over a hundred.

The 110-year-old was kept in Marineland Melanesia on an island off Queensland since he was captured in the Northern Territory during the 1980s. In 2011, he became a record holder for the Guinness World Record as the largest crocodile in captivity.

The world’s largest crocodile was like a family member to the captive

The sanctuary expressed deep sadness over his passing, referring to Cassius as “our beloved mate” and “a cherished member of our family.” His life in the sanctuary followed a wild existence where he was notorious for preying on cattle and even attacking boat propellers.

In 1987, the producer of Marineland Melanesia, George Craig bought Cassius. The habitat continued to say that Cassius had given George Craig more than 37 years of his life with happiness and companionship. George Craig has moved to Cairns recently and just a little later that is when Cassius’ health has started to decline.

The habitat stated that Cassius was “very old” and older than any wild crocodile’s supposed life expectancy. In a heartfelt tribute to him, they thanked each and every person who made their way to Cassius across all of his years in the sanctuary and stood for him through all these long years. They also updated that the facility might be kept on terms in the near days ahead.

Cassius will be remembered as the largest crocodile held captive, not only in size but also in the relationship he shared with his caregiver and the joy he spread to thousands of visitors for years. As the sanctuary commemorates his life, they ask the community to remember the remarkable crocodile who made a difference in his time at Marineland Melanesia.
