Mahindra Clears Up BE 6 Fire: Driver Ignored Tire Warnings

A recent incident in Uttar Pradesh gained significant attention after a Mahindra BE 6 EV caught fire near the Kurana Toll Plaza in Hapur. A viral video of the event shows the electric SUV suddenly emitting smoke before it engulfed in flames. The vehicle’s owner, Aman Kharbanda, was driving from Bulandshahr to Hapur when the fire started.

Local police from Hafizpur station quickly arrived and alerted fire crews, who worked hard to control the situation. Traffic on the highway temporarily disrupted as authorities responded to the emergency.

Mahindra has since released a preliminary statement about the incident. According to the company’s initial assessment, the fire caused by the driver simultaneously using the accelerator and brake pedals for an extended period. This unusual driving situation can result in repeated wheel spin, which creates excessive heat in the affected wheel and nearby parts.

What the company said?

The brand clarified by stating, “We are aware of the recent incident involving a Mahindra BE 6 vehicle near Gulaothi. Based on a thorough on-site investigation and data from onboard sensors and software diagnostics, we confirm that the EV battery and motor are fully intact and unaffected. Quality and safety remain our top priority.”
