Maruti Suzuki Launches eVitara EV SUV with Battery Rental Option

The shares of Maruti Suzuki India rose over 1 % after the company launched its first electric vehicle with a battery rental plan in India. The shares of India’s top automaker increased to Rs 15,211 each on Tuesday.

Maruti Suzuki launches first EV e-Vitara SUV

Maruti Suzuki announced in an exchange filing that it starts selling the e-VITARA BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) at an introductory Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) price of Rs 10.99 lakh. The company also offering a complimentary home charger and installation worth Rs 50,000, along with free charging for one year. The battery rental plan will cost Rs 3.99 per kilometer.

The new electric vehicle comes with an eight-year warranty on the battery and a 3 year warranty on the vehicle. It also option to extend the warranty to five years for an additional fee.

Customs now get battery rental options

“It features a high-capacity battery with 120 lithium-ion cells, providing excellent range and reliability in extreme temperatures from -30°C to 60°C. This strong platform uses over 50% high-tensile steel, offering great structural strength. With a long wheelbase of 2700mm and short overhang, it boasts a turning radius of 5.2m. It improve maneuverability and showcasing its engineering prowess,” reads the brochure.

The vehicle also includes an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS Level 2), which features adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, adaptive high beam system, blind spot monitoring, and more.

Customers can book the new electric vehicle with an initial payment of just Rs 21,000. The e-Vitara SUV, developed under Suzuki Motor’s global design and manufacturing partnership with Toyota. The company exported 13,000 units to 28 countries in 2025.
