An attempted theft at Muthoot Finance Karnataka near Derlakatte Junction under the jurisdiction of the Konaje police station took place late on March 29 night time. As the burglars were breaking the locks, the finance company’s siren went off, alerting the Konaje police, who rushed to the scene and arrested two accused individuals.
Three strangers who arrived by train last nighttime waited near Derlakatte till overdue at night time, planning to commit the crime. Around 3 AM, as they tried to interrupt open the door of Muthoot Finance branch, which operates at the higher ground of a commercial building owned by H M Timbers at Derlakatte Junction using a drill system, the alarm went off.
2 arrest in Muthoot Finance Karnataka robbery case
As they had been breaking the locks to execute the robbery, the safety alarm induced, sending an alert to the finance organization’s control room. The senior officials of Muthoot Finance immediately knowledgeable the police. At that time, Konaje police, who had been patrolling close to K S Hegde Hospital, rushed to the scene.
By the time the siren went off, local residents too had amassed close to the premises. Two accused, identified as Murali from Kanhangad and Harshad from Kasargod, have been locked in the constructing and were later apprehended by using the Konaje police with the assist of public. Police also seized a drilling system used for the crime. Meanwhile, a 3rd accused, Abdul Latif from Kasargod, managed to break out.
Advanced safety features save bank from robbery
Due to the superior safety features set up on the Muthoot Finance Karnataka branch in Derlakatte, the attempted theft was thwarted. ACP Dhanya Nayak and a team led by Konaje inspector Rajendra visited the crime scene and conducted research. During interrogation, it was found out that the 2 arrested individuals had been involved in a bank robbery at a Vijaya Bank branch in Kerala.
