Russian IT company Pro32 hires 7-year-old coder: What will be his salary?

A young coder from St. Petersburg Russia managed to get a job offer from Pro32 – a Russian IT and software development company. Despite being only 7 years old, Sergey gained professional attention after he started making and posting tutorial videos about coding when he was only five years old.

The firm has stated that they will hire Sergey for a position in management by the name of Head of Corporate Training after reaching the age of fourteen. Pro32’s CEO Mr Igor Mandik called him a ‘coder’s mozart’ while highlighting Segey’s skills as well as teaching. He mentioned that he had already spoken to Sergey’s parents and found them very keen to take this offer.

Sergey joined YouTube over 5 years ago and within this time period, roughly around three and a half thousand subscribers were added. The majority of his content includes programs involving programming languages such as Python and Unity. His content also covers neural network elements of artificial intelligence.

All of this is impressive for such a young age as Sergey speaks clearly and presents topics in a fun engaging manner. However, according to Mandik, Sergey has more to offer than just being a coder. His ideal scenario has the young whiz teaching not just developers but personnel across departments, such as sales and accounting. Mandik is hopeful that by 14, he will be adept at both development and teaching.

Pro32 is thrilled for Sergey but also knows that making this a job is still years in the future. Paid positions are also not permitted for minors: Russian labor laws do not allow anyone under the age of 14 to take on such roles. And in the meantime, they said they’ll be looking for legal ways to work together.

As for compensation, Mandik said it’s far too early to discuss numbers. ‘We will discuss salary in seven years,’ he remarked, admittedly pointing out the long-term commitment of his firm to cultivating Sergey’s exceptional talent.

This once-in-a-lifetime offer highlights the kind of groundbreaking skills Sergey demonstrated in the tech world already that are sure to lead him down a lucrative path for years to come.
