A local YouTuber arrested while a SI is on the run in connection with the alleged abduction and gang rape of a 14-year-old girl in the Sachendi area of Kanpur, police said.
The case has prompted high-level action, with Police Commissioner Raghubir Lal removing Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Dinesh Chandra Tripathi and suspending Sachendi Station House Officer Vikram Singh for alleged mistakes and misrepresentation of facts.
Gang rape with 14 year school Girl in Kanpur
According to the police, the victim, a class 7 dropout allegedly abducted in a Mahindra Scorpio around 10 p.m. on Monday. She taken to a deserted area near a railway track, where she sexually assaulted for two hours before left outside her house in an unconscious state.
“Based on the victim’s statement, SI Amit Kumar Maurya and YouTuber Shivbaran Yadav has involved in rape. Yadav arrested, while four teams have been formed to find the missing SI,” Raghubir Lal said.
SI Maurvya Involved in Rape, Hunt on Starts
The SUV used in the crime, which belongs to Maurya has seized. Investigations revealed that Maurya was in Sachendi during the incident even though he assigned to the Bithoor Police Station.
The victim’s family alleged that the local police tried to cover up the case. They claimed they initially turned away when they mentioned that a police officer involved. The girl’s brother said that the police took her mobile phone and prevented her from returning home until her court statement recorded.
SHO Vikram Singh suspended for not invoking the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at the beginning and for allegedly misrepresenting facts in case records. Deenanath Mishra has taken charge of the Sachendi Police Station in Kanpur. “The investigation conducted with full transparency, and strict action taken against all guilty parties,” said Raghubir Lal.
