The Karnataka Lokayukta police arrested a Bengaluru police inspector on Thursday at the KP Agrahara police station. He is accused of taking a bribe of ₹4 lakh from a builder involved in a cheating case. The inspector, named Govindaraju, was caught at the City Armed Reserve (CAR) ground in Chamarajpet while receiving the money from Mohammed Akbar, who was involved in the case.

Lokayukta officials told that Govindaraju demanded ₹5 lakh to remove Akbar’s name from the case. Akbar had previously paid ₹1 lakh in cash on January 24 and later filed a complaint with the Lokayukta.
On Thursday, Akbar called Govindaraju to the CAR grounds to give him the rest of the money.
Lokayukta police team set trap to caught him
The Lokayukta team set a trap, covering the currency notes with phenolphthalein powder. They arrested the inspector when he allegedly accepted the money while in uniform and using his official vehicle, as reported by TIE.
In a separate operation, Lokayukta officers raided properties linked to former Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) officer Tejesh Kumar N and seized assets worth around ₹26.5 crore. This included four sites, eight houses, and 14 acres of agricultural land, according to officials.
