ChandruLamani, BJP MLA from Karnataka Shirahatti Assembly constituency arrested by the Karnataka Lokayukta after he caught accepting a bribe of Rs 5 lakh. This amount was part of a claimed total demand of Rs 11 lakh.

Officials said that Lamani was first detained for questioning following a trap operation and formally arrested afterward. Two of his personal assistants also taken into custody in connection with the case.
The bribe allegedly sought to help approve a minor irrigation department project in Gadag district. This project involved the construction of a retaining wall along both sides of a road that assigned to a contractor.
Two others arrested at scene
In addition to the MLA, his two aides, Manjunath Valmiki and Gurunaik also detained at the scene and later taken for further investigation. Authorities suspect they helped facilitate the alleged transaction. All three are currently questioned as investigators gather evidence and record statements.
The case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Lokayukta officials confirmed that material evidence seized during the operation and that further investigation is underway to determine the full extent of the alleged wrongdoing. The arrest marks a significant step in Karnataka ongoing fight against corruption.
