Drunk driver rams his car into their two-wheeler Kills 2 Engineering Students in Hasthinapuram

A speeding subcompact sedan crashed into an electric bike of two engineering college students and a pedestrian in Hasthinapuram. The students, K Shiva (20) from Haliya in Nalgonda district and N Sandeep Kumar (20) from Housing Board Colony in Miryalaguda, died instantly. The pedestrian, S Sridhar from Loyapally village in Manchal, suffered serious injuries and is in critical condition.

Shiva and Sandeep were second-year ECE students. They were standing near a divider at a petrol station when the driver of a Honda City came speeding from Sagar Road and hit them. He also hit Sridhar as he was crossing the road.

Dragged students on two wheeler 100 metres away

Police reported that the driver drunk at the time. The car dragged the students for over 100 meters before flipping over and stopping. One of the students was working for an online food delivery service to help with his expenses.

After learning about the incident, angry students gathered at the scene and protested, demanding that the police ensure the driver faced consequences. The police calmed the situation, promising that appropriate action taken against him.

Vanasthalipuram Inspector S Ravi Babu said, “We have filed a case under the relevant sections against the car driver and taken him into custody.”
