The dead body of a woman was dumped into a well in Jhansi district of Uttar Pradesh. Police said two people have been arrested by the police in connection with the murder of the Ex-UP Village Pradhan, who is identified as the victim’s lover and his nephew. A third partner, who helped to carry out the murder, lives on a large scale, the police said.

Under pressure and disappointment due to the woman’s constant requests, former village head, Sanjay Patel, along with her nephew, Sandeep Patel, killed the woman in Kishorepura village in Jhansi, cut her body into seven pieces, and filled them in sacks, later dumped them near a well and near a bridge.
The matter came to light on 13 August when a farmer inspected his fields, saw a smell coming out of a well. On inspection, two sacks were found floating in water, with a woman’s body parts. Search sent shockwaves through the community and posed a significant challenge to local authorities.
Police investigation starts, 2 Accused and 1 Still on Search
After the incident, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Jhansi, formed eight search teams to crack the case. On August 17, the police recovered the victim’s hands properly from the well. However, the head and legs were missing, making the identity complicated. A post-mortem was held, and the cremation was held on 18 August.
Police investigation revealed that the murder was planned by Ex-UP Village Pradhan due to the demands of marriage of the victim. In response, Patel conspired with his colleagues to eliminate him, resulting in a brutal murder. Intensive investigation included questioning more than 100 villagers and checking footage from more than 200 CCTV cameras.
