Govindachamy, a convict serving a life sentence in the 2011 Soumya murder case, escaped from the Kannur Central Jail in Kerala. He was caught hours later by Police.
Jail DGP Balram Kumar Upadhyay stated Govindachamy has been taken into custody and introduced that action will taken against who led to the escape.
Govindachamy Escape from jail, But Police Caught Him
The convict, who does not have a left hand, was caught from close to a building in Thalap, in Kannur city limits. He was hiding in a well near the building whilst he was found. Reports show the routine perpetrator managed to climb the prison’s wall, that is atleast 15-foot-high, to break out.
Kannur City Police Commissioner Nidhin Raj said that a detailed research is needed to confirm how the break out passed off.
“Primary facts show that he were preparing for this for over 20 days. Currently, we have no facts indicating the involvement of others, however so that it will also be investigated,” he said. “A case registered at Kannur Town Police, and he will presented before court as a part of process.”
Accused Planning for Escape from over 20 days
The commissioner said police received information about the escape around 6.30 am and starts district-wide search by all police forces. CCTV footage helped them pick out that the Govindachamy who escaped among 4.15 am and 5.00 am. Public tip-offs performed a key role in narrowing down the hunt, he said.
The disappearance got here to light for the duration of a routine inspection of his mobile in the early hours of the day. Jail authorities immediately released a search operation in and across the prison premises.
The Kannur Town Police stated they were informed about the break out at 7 am. The K-9 squad was also introduced in join search operation in and around the jail premises.
