J&K police seized an AK-47 rifle and 350 kg Explosives Near Delhi, 2 doctors arrested

In a troubling explosives recovery near the national capital, a team from the Jammu and Kashmir police found 350 kg of explosives, believed to be ammonium nitrate, along with an AK-47 rifle in Faridabad, Haryana.

This significant discovery occurred just days after police arrested a Kashmiri doctor in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. He was accused of putting up posters supporting the terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed in Srinagar.

Sources report that the recovery in Faridabad came after Dr Adil Ahmad Rather provided information during questioning. The explosives and weapons were reportedly stored with another doctor, Mujammil Shakeel, who was also arrested. Shakeel is from Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir and works at Al-Falah Hospital in Faridabad.

Faridabad Police Commissioner Satender Kumar Gupta noted that 20 timers were discovered with the 350 kg of explosives. He added that a pistol, three magazines, and a walkie-talkie set were also recovered.

CCTV footage helps police to arrest suspects

This situation can be traced back to October 27, when posters backing Jaish-e-Mohammed appeared in Srinagar. The local police investigated and found CCTV footage of rather placing the posters. He was located in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, and arrested last week. Investigators learned that Rather had worked at the Government Medical College in Anantnag until October last year. When police searched his locker, they found a AK-47 rifle. Based on the information he provided during questioning, authorities seized the explosives in Faridabad.

Earlier, Jammu and Kashmir police confiscated an AK-47 rifle and ammunition from Rather’s locker at the Government Medical College in Anantnag. Officials stated that the operation to recover the explosives and weapons was coordinated between the Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana police.

Rather has been charged under the Arms Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. Sources suggest that the doctor’s alleged involvement indicates that terror networks may be recruiting highly educated professionals.
