4 arrested at Mumbai Airport in Drug Smuggling Case
During the operation, customs officers seized 64 kilos and 394 grams of hydroponic cannabis that had been smuggled from Bangkok. After receiving tips from reliable sources, CSMIA initiated a special drive on Tuesday.
They targeted smugglers and checked every passenger arriving from Bangkok along with their luggage. Officers detained four individuals, a foreign national and three Indian passengers—for questioning.
Hydroponic cannabis found at airport
While searching the luggage of the four suspects, officers discovered a stash of hydroponic cannabis. Investigations showed that the accused had obtained the drug in Bangkok and had been instructed to deliver it to their associates in Mumbai. In return, they were promised a commission and flight tickets for the Bangkok-Mumbai route. However, they were arrested before they could leave the airport.
After their arrest, a case was filed against all four passengers under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Once apprehended, the four individuals were presented before the Killa Court on Wednesday, where a judge ordered them to spend 14 days in judicial custody.
