A 19-year-old woman was shot dead in Mumbai on Tuesday. Police arrested a young couple within 12 hours of the incident. The murder occurred when a gunshot startled residents during the day. The victim, Shifa, was shot at close range and died from her injuries while being taken to the hospital. The blood-stained street and the bold daytime killing raised serious questions.
Love Triangle Turns Fatal in Mumbai
Acting quickly, a team from Shivaji Nagar police station began an investigation. They reviewed CCTV footage and worked with informants. Shortly after, they detained two suspects: a 25-year-old woman believed to be the main suspect and her 23-year-old male partner.
During initial questioning, police said the crime was linked to a love triangle and ongoing personal disputes. Officials noted that tensions had been building between the victim and the accused for some time. Zonal DCP Sameer Shaikh confirmed that the murder stemmed from personal relationships and conflicts related to romance. The woman allegedly conspired with her male partner to carry out the shooting.
Police start investigation
A case has filed under the relevant murder laws of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and both suspects are being questioned. Police are also investigating the source of the weapon used in the crime and whether anyone else was involved.
Initial reports shows that the victim was in a relationship with the male suspect, who was also involved with another woman. Previous arguments between the three apparently escalated into a conspiracy that led to Shifa killed. Mumbai Police say the investigation is still in its early stages, and more official details will be confirmed after further questioning.
