A death, initially described as a hit-and-run during an evening walk, turned out to be a planned murder. A 23-year-old woman allegedly killed her 27-year-old husband with the help of her lover in Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan. This act followed her parents’ marrying her off against her wishes.
On Wednesday, police arrested four people after an autopsy showed injuries that did not match a road accident, leading to a confession.

“On the surface, Anjali Kumar and Ashish Kumar got married in October last year. However, Anjali had been in a relationship with Sanjay (25) for the last seven years.
Anjali’s family knew about their relationship, but they still married her to Ashish. She was unhappy with the marriage and planned the murder,” said Sri Ganganagar Superintendent of Police Amrita Duhan.
Dead body sent for mortem
According to the police, Ashish killed last Friday evening on a road in 01KLM village, Sri Ganganagar. Anjali told the police that she and Ashish were on an evening walk when a speeding bike hit him. She claimed the attacker stole her gold earring and fled, leaving her unconscious, said Duhan.
Following this, Rajasthan police sent the body for an autopsy and opened a case of negligent driving while they searched for the alleged bike rider.
“However, suspicion grew after the autopsy results came in. There were no signs of a hit-and-run. Instead, there were multiple injury marks from a brutal assault. We found no other evidence linked to any attacker,” Duhan said.
