Anmol Bishnoi, one of India’s most wanted fugitives and the younger brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, arrived in Delhi on Wednesday after being deported from the United States. A team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) took him to Patiala House court.
Anmol Bishnoi deported from USA to India
Anmol Bishnoi was deported from the US on November 18. This marked a significant breakthrough for several Indian agencies investigating him in multiple high-profile cases. The first picture of Anmol Bishnoi in NIA custody was shared by news agency ANI on X. In the image, Anmol is seen from behind, held by two NIA officials.
Ramesh Bishnoi, Anmol’s cousin, called on the Central government to ensure his safety upon his return to India. While speaking to ANI, Ramesh expressed that Anmol is being punished simply for being Lawrence Bishnoi’s younger brother. “The law will take its course. Our family respects the law, and we are law-abiding people, but today our main concern is that if he (Anmol Bishnoi) is being brought to India, the Indian government should ensure his safety. This will be our demand,” he stated.
Baba Siddique’s son touch with US federal government
Anmol Bishnoi’s journey to the US began in 2021 when he fled India using a forged passport. Investigators say he first traveled to Nepal, then through Dubai and Kenya before reaching the US. In the US, he was last publicly seen in April 2023 at an event in Bakersfield, California. He was arrested earlier this year, leading to his deportation process.
Baba Siddique’s son, Zeeshan, told media that their family had registered as victims of crime with the Mumbai police in the United States. They received regular updates from the US regarding Anmol Bishnoi. “On November 18, we were informed by US federal government that they had deport the accused from their land,” he said.
