A 27-year-old SWAT Commando with the Delhi Police, who was four months pregnant, died after her husband violently attacked her and struck her on the head with a heavy dumbbell.
Kajal Chaudhary was assaulted by her husband, Ankur, a clerk in the Ministry of Defence, on January 22. Their frequent arguments over money had escalated. She was taken to the hospital with severe head injuries and died during treatment on Tuesday.

Chaudhary’s brother, Nikhil, a constable at the Parliament Street police station, said his sister called him on the day of the attack. While he was on the phone with her, Ankur began hitting her with the dumbbell. Minutes later, Ankur casually informed him about the assault over the phone.

Nikhil further claimed that Chaudhary’s mother-in-law and two sisters-in-law continuously harassed her for dowry. It has also come to light that Ankur allegedly took money from parents of late SWAT Commando.
A murder case has been filed against Ankur, who has been arrested and taken into judicial custody. Chaudhary joined the Delhi Police in 2022 and was serving in the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team. She married Ankur in 2023. The couple has a one-and-a-half-year-old son.
