The Pune police on Wednesday released a caricature of one of the suspects who sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl at knifepoint. The accused also robbed 3 girls travel with her in a car on the Pune- Solapur highways on Monday. Police have made an appeal to approach the police if anybody has facts about the suspect.
The minor, who was sexually assaulted, and the 3 girls, who had been robbed, have been part of a 7-member group from three households related to each other from a village in the Pune district. The group was on its way to the temple city of Pandharpur in Solapur district.
17 year old girl sexually assaulted on Solapur Highways
According to police, except the 17-year-old girl and the three girls passengers, 17-year-old boys and a 70-year-old driver had been in the van. Around 4.15 am on Monday, around 10 kilometres from Bhigwan town, unidentified men approached the car whilst the driver stopped the vehicle on the roadside to save himself.
Brandishing sharp guns, the duo robbed 3 girls of gold embellishes worth Rs 1.5 lakh. One of the men dragged away the girl behind tea stall and sexually assaulted her, threatening her at knife point. The two men had covered their faces with masks.
Manhunt Release by Police
The Solapur, Pune police release an in-depth manhunt for the suspects. A group of 10 teams had been formed for the probe. “Investigation revealed that the assailants threw chilli powder at the occupants of the vehicle. When one of the suspects was blowing the chilli powder on the occupants, he had diminished his masks. Based on the description given by the occupants, a comic strip of the suspect has been prepared.
