Suryapet Businessman Killed Over WhatsApp Emoji Dispute

A Suryapet Businessman, named Manupuri Krupakar (43), allegedly murdered in daylight hours on Tuesday after a post in a WhatsApp group connected to a district-level community group cause tensions.

The dispute started when Appam Srinivas, district president of the network, shared an update around the upcoming elections scheduled for August 3. Krupakar responded with a clapping emoji, a gesture that reportedly enraged Sriramulu, a frontrunner of a rival role.

Seeking to treatment, Krupakar arrived at the community hall on Tuesday morning to meet members of the rival group in the presence of elders. However, the meeting turned violent when Krupakar allegedly assaulted by Sriramulu, his son Dhanunjay, and four others. Though the attackers organized for Krupakar to shifted to Suryapet Area Hospital, he suffered injuries. Krupakar survived by his wife Vijayalakshmi, daughter Amulya, and son Ajay. Local police have registered a case and starts an investigation.
