A law student in Tarn Taran district, Punjab, shot a woman student in a college classroom on Monday, February 9, 2026. Classmates watched in horror as he then turned the gun on himself.
Law college boy shot himself and girl classmate in Tarn Taran
Prince Raj was critically injured, while Sandeep Kaur shot in the head and died immediately, according to Tarn Taran Deputy Superintendent of Police Jagbir Singh. Raj taken to a hospital in critical condition.
Raj and Kaur were both first-year law students and classmates, around 19 or 20 years old. Raj came from Mallian village, and Kaur lived in Naushehra Pannuan village.
The class had not yet started when the shooting occurred. An investigation is ongoing to find out the motive behind the attack.
Mother receive call from college after death
CCTV footage from the classroom captured Raj, Kaur, and another female student present. Other students were also visible. Suddenly, Raj stood up from his desk and shot Kaur. He then shot himself in the head and collapsed.
A shocked student sitting next to Kaur got up to check on her friend, who was already died. A few other students seen entering the classroom after the shots fired and quickly running away.
Kaur’s mother, Harjinder Kaur, said she received a call from the college authorities asking her to come immediately. “I was not told that she was shot,” Harjinder told. When she arrived at the Tarn Taran law college, she found her daughter lying dead. She questioned how a student could bring a weapon into the college.
