UP women claims fake Rs 25 lakh insurance, Declare Husband's Death, but alive

A UP women claims fake Rs 25 lakh insurance, presenting a fake death certificate to claim the husband was dead. The Lucknow Police reported that Ravi Shankar and his wife, Kesh Kumari, created false documents to state that Shankar had died, allowing them to defraud an insurance company.

As the investigation progressed, the couple taken to the police station, where they admitted to the crime. The police confirmed they presented in court.

Police arrest UP women claims fake Rs 25 lakh insurance

In a statement from the Lucknow police, complainant Sandeep Wadkur filed a report indicating that an insurance policy issued to Ravi Shankar, a policyholder with Aviva India, in December 2012 for Rs 25 lakh.

On April 21, 2023, Kesh Kumari claimed that her husband had died on April 9 and filed a death claim for Rs 25 lakh.

Couple confessed the crime

The police noted that based on the documents she provided, the claim was approved, and the insurance money deposited into his account on April 21.

However, during an internal investigation, authorities discovered that Shankar was alive, leading to the filing of a case. The police mentioned that both Shankar and Kumari had been trying to avoid arrest. They taken to the police station on Monday, and during questioning, they confessed to the crime.
