In one of the strongest criticisms of the Trinamool Congress regarding the RG Kar rape-murder case, PM Modi said that the victim’s mother worked hard to help her daughter become a doctor but “lost her” to “TMC’s jungle raj.” Speaking at an election rally in Dum Dum, alongside the mother of the RG Kar victim, PM Modi focus on that the TMC failed to protect women.

“The mother helped her daughter become a doctor. That daughter taken away from her by TMC. We have made that mother a candidate,” PM Modi said. Ratna Debnath, the mother of the RG Kar rape victim running for election with the BJP from her hometown, Panihati. She joined the prime minister on stage on Friday.
Focus Over RG Kar Rape Murder Case
In reference to the RG Kar case, the 31-year-old trainee doctor found dead in the seminar hall of the state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9, 2024. Sanjay Roy, a civic volunteer with Kolkata Police arrested and sentenced to life in jail. It lead widespread outrage across the country. A postmortem report revealed she raped, throttled, and smothered to death.
In Bengal, the protests grew into a broader critique of the Mamata Banerjee government’s handling of law and order. PM Modi seemed to reflect that sentiment while attacking the TMC.
