Gautam Buddha University (GBU) held a professional development session to prepare food technology students for industry expectations and job readiness. The session, titled “Professional Grooming for Food Technologists: Industry Expectations and Placement Readiness,” aimed to connect academic learning with real-world industry needs.
GBU Enhances Industry-Ready Skills
The first session featured Dr. Vinay Litona, Director of Corporate Relations Cell at GBU. He discussed the university’s goal of becoming a placement-focused institution. He also highlighted the importance of updating academic programs to reflect current industry trends. He encouraged students to adopt a career-oriented mindset. It focused on need to build both technical skills and professional abilities to thrive in the competitive food industry.
Dr. Kajal Verma, Associate Professor along with Tarun Kumar Singnal from Maringle Pvt. Ltd., led the technical and professional parts of the session. Maringle focuses on vegetarian and vegan food products made without preservatives or artificial enhancers.
Prepare Food Technology Students for job offers
The speakers provided valuable insights into what employers expect, essential skill sets, and strategies for effective job preparation for food technology graduates. They emphasized the importance of practical experience, especially in applying food safety and quality management systems like HACCP, ISO 22000, and other recognized global standards. Students also learned about product recall procedures and the need for hands-on experience in industry operations.
During the GBU session, the value of professional certifications—including FoSTAC, FSSC 22000 (Food Safety System Certification), ISO 9001, BRCGS, and GFSI-recognized certifications discussed in detail. The speakers explained how these credentials can boost students’ resumes and improve their job prospects in the food sector.
