IIT Bombay has teamed up with Vertiv, a provider of digital infrastructure solutions, to create new cooling solutions for AI-powered data centers. This partnership aims to tackle growing thermal issues as more Indian businesses adopt AI. The power use of graphics processing units is likely to rise sharply by 2025.
IIT Bombay Plan to develops AI Data Centre Cooling Solutions
IIT-Bombay Director Professor Shireesh Kedare said that this partnership will turn academic research into practical solutions that meet industry needs. The project will start with designing a dry cooler for a 40 KW liquid cooling load. It will be tested at IIT-Bombay’s Heat Pump Laboratory and later assessed at Vertiv’s facility in Pune. Vertiv noted that this initiative will also help develop a skilled workforce ready for the industry.
