A 20-year-old NEET aspirant has been died by suicide in UP Lakhimpur Kheri district. Family members said he had been under a lot of stress after the recent cancellation of the NEET examination due to alleged paper leak reports.
NEET Aspirant Dies by Suicide
The young man, who lived in Hasanpur Katauli village under Isanagar police station, was found hanging from the ceiling of his room at a residence in Gangotrinagar locality of Lakhimpur city on Thursday morning.
Police stated that the youth had returned to Lakhimpur from his village on Wednesday. When he did not open his room by late Thursday morning, residents contacted his family and then the police.
No suicide note found
Inspector Rajesh Kumar Singh said a police team arrived at the scene and began a preliminary investigation before sending the body for a postmortem. “No suicide note found in the room. Further investigation is ongoing,” the officer added.
The grieving father claimed his son had been very disturbed after the NEET examination canceled. “This was his third attempt, and he was hopeful of passing this time. The cancellation left him mentally shattered,” he told reporters.
The youth’s uncle also mentioned that he appeared visibly stressed after news of the paper leak and the cancellation of the exam came out.
