Nodia Schools to Remain Closed Until Further Notice Due to Cold Conditions

Due to the severe cold conditions and heavy fog that has gripped Noida, the District Magistrate has directed all schools to remain closed up to the 8th standard. This is applicable to schools affiliated with the State Board, CBSE, and ICSE boards. The closure of schools has been ordered from January 2 and will remain closed until further notice.

District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma issued the order, citing worsening weather conditions. Temperatures in Noida have dropped to as low as 8 degrees Celsius and as high as 17 degrees Celsius, making it difficult for schoolchildren who attend morning classes. The India Meteorological Department has forecasted that dense fog and mist will prevail in the region from January 3 to 6, which justifies the precautionary step.

Noida Schools to Remain Closed Due to Cold, Management Prioritizes Students, Staff Safety

District Basic Education Officer Rahul Panwar has issued an official notice to all school principals, focusing on the health and safety of students. “The cold has been increasing over the past few days. Allowing children to attend school under these conditions could cause significant discomfort and health risks,” Panwar said in the letter.

Any school violating the order will be subjected to stringent administrative action. It is under tight surveillance from authorities for effective safety measures.
In the meantime, one of Noida’s harshest cold waves in a long time and thick fog conditions that were badly hampering morning travel were providing sufficient grounds to justify such an extreme decision taken by the administration. Most of the parents seem to welcome it with both arms and are also appreciative of this approach being focused on students.

With the continued cold wave, residents are asked to take extra precautions by piling on layers and avoiding going outdoors during the early morning.
