The Rajasthan HC has cancelled the Sub-Inspector (SI) Recruitment 2021 for 859 posts. This decision follows a paper leak scandal that affected the recruitment process.
The examination has faced legal scrutiny since last year, when petitions were filed on August 13 demanding cancellation. A division bench led by Justice Sameer Jain reserved its verdict on August 14 after hearing arguments from all parties.
Rajasthan HC orders on exam cancellation
During the hearings, the state government acknowledged that irregularities were found but claimed that only 68 candidates were involved. As reported by Bhaskar English, this included 54 trainee SIs, six selected candidates, and eight absconding candidates. The government argued that it could take action against those identified while allowing the rest of the recruitment to proceed.
Selected candidates oppose cancellation
Candidates who had already been selected also opposed the cancellation by Rajasthan HC. They argued that they had taken the exam fairly, and some even resigned from other government jobs to become trainee SIs. They said cancelling the entire process would be unfair to those who passed the exam based on merit.
Despite these arguments, the High Court has decided to cancel the entire recruitment due to the seriousness of the paper leak. This order now affects hundreds of candidates who had been waiting for appointments through this recruitment drive.
