A alert arise at Mohanlal Sukhadia University (MLSU), the largest institution in Rajasthan Udaipur division, as a troublesome squirrel spreads panic across the Arts College campus. Over the past six weeks, this animal has reportedly attacked nearly 20 students and staff members.
The aggression has reached the top of the administration, with the college dean among those bitten. The situation has become so serious that students and faculty are now reluctant to use the pathway leading to the Psychology Department, which is where most of the attacks happen.

University staff believe the squirrel’s violent behavior is a misguided attempt to protect its territory. Witnesses say the animal attacks without warning, jumping at people before quickly retreating into the trees.
It is suspected that the squirrel made a nest near the Psychology Department and protects its territory against anyone it sees as a threat. What started as a curiosity on campus has turned into a real safety issue, leaving the university community very alert.
To address the growing safety concerns, the Animal Aid rescue team called in on two occasions to capture the animal.
What caused the squirrel to become aggressive?
Dr.Shailendra Kumar Sharma, Deputy Director of the Animal Husbandry Department, mentioned that while squirrel bites not carry a risk of rabies. But it is necessary to get a tetanus shot as a precaution. He explained that animals may act aggressively if they are partially blind or irritated by certain colors. It is also possible that the squirrel feels unsafe for some specific reason.
