Violence broke out in Phase 2 of Noida, Uttar Pradesh, when workers gathered to protest their demands for higher salaries. During the protest, people vandalized vehicles and properties, and stones were thrown, creating chaos in the area. Police quickly arrived and deployed a large force to manage the situation. They used tear gas to disperse the crowd.

The protesting workers had several demands. They wanted bonus payments, weekly days off, overtime pay, and timely salary payments. They also called for a sexual harassment committee, a grievance cell, and the issuance of salary slips.
Labour Commissioner work on it
A day before the violence, the Noida District Magistrate held a crucial meeting at the Noida Authority to ensure industrial peace. Senior officials, including the Principal Secretary of Labour and the Labour Commissioner of UP, participated in the meeting virtually. They discussed ways to protect workers’ interests, including double payment for overtime, bonuses, weekly holidays, and workplace safety.
Authorities said that efforts are ongoing to regain control of the situation. Further details are expected.
