Woman Brings Baby on Interview, Recruiter’s Response Goes Viral Online

A video of Woman Brings Baby on Interview has gone viral on X. Simon Ingari, a career counselor based in Kenya, received a late-night message from a candidate who needed permission to bring her child to the interview after her childcare plans fell through.

“Can I bring my baby to the interview?” the post said, quoting the message he received at 11 pm: “Hi, I have an interview with you tomorrow at 2 pm. My childcare fell through. Can I bring my 8-month-old? I understand if you need to reschedule.”

Ingari said his first instinct would have been to reschedule the interview. He once thought of it as “unprofessional, distracting, and a red flag.” However, this time he chose a different approach. “Absolutely. See you tomorrow,” he replied.

At that moment, Ingari paused the interview to reassure her. “Hey. You’re managing a baby, answering complex questions, and staying calm under pressure. That’s literally the job—handling chaos while staying professional. You’re already proving you can do it,” he told her.

The candidate was quite emotional: “Her eyes filled with tears,” he said. Ingari revealed that the company ended up hiring her and noted she has now been with the team for a year. “She’s been with us for a year now. The most reliable team member we have,” he said, explaining why he believes working parents often excel at their jobs.

“Because when you’re used to handling a screaming infant at 3 am and still showing up to work the next day, workplace stress feels like nothing,” he said.
