Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan have filed a lawsuit against YouTube and Google, seeking Rs 4 crore (about $450,000). Their legal action comes after a number of AI-generated deepfake videos appeared on the platform. It follows a recent Delhi High Court order aimed at protecting Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan’s personality rights.
Petition filed by Aishwarya Rai for removal of AI Videos
The legal petition, filed on September 6, asks for the removal and permanent ban of videos that violate intellectual property rights. The Bachchans also want the court to order YouTube to take steps to stop their videos. They have raised concerns about AI misuse in content creation.
According to legal papers reviewed by Reuters, the lawsuit focuses on “egregious” and “sexually explicit” AI-generated content. They argue that YouTube should put in place to ensure that any content misusing their names, voices, or images is not exploited by AI. They believe current policies on the platform allow for more misuse as AI technologies develop.
