Bengal’s Music Industry Mourns the Loss of Bassist Chandramouli Biswas

Chandramouli Biswas was known as an exemplary bassist, hailing from Kolkata, found dead on his rented abode near Wellington, on Sunday night. The man died at 48 years, connected with successful bands like Fossils, Golok, and Zombie Cage Control. Bengali music fans mourn with deep feelings due to this musician’s shocking end.

Golok’s lead vocalist, Mohul Chakraborty, was the first to discover Chandramouli’s body. In a statement, he mentioned that he had been unable to reach Chandramouli all day and, worried about his well-being, contacted a close friend to check on him. The duo arrived at his residence, only to find that he had passed away. Chakraborty expressed the immense loss for the entire music community, describing the incident as devastating for Bengal’s music industry.

Bassist Chandramouli Biswas was struggling with depression for years

Chandramouli was said to have been battling depression for years. Financial issues, however, have apparently aggravated his problem. According to the police, he was undergoing treatment for his mental illness. The suicide note recovered indicated that no one else was involved in his death. Investigators are also looking into the handwriting on the note.

Rupsha Dasgupta, manager of Fossils, where Chandramouli was a member from 2000 to 2018, is shocked and saddened by the news. She said, “He was an extremely popular person with an immense fan following. He had a very bright personality, and this is something that inspired many. He left an engineering career to do music, and it was such a promising one.” Rupsha added that the news came as a shock to the band, especially as they had only recently heard of it while traveling for a show in Kalyani.

Chandramouli is survived by his parents. His death leaves a void in the hearts of many, and his contributions to Bengali rock music will be remembered.
